CONSOLIDATING ENTERPRISE ADMIN TOOLS & RESTORING CROSS-TEAM TRUST
Company: Tableau
Project: Unifying Enterprise Controls & Restoring Cross-Team Trust
Role: Senior UX Designer (Design Lead)
The Problem: Fragmented Controls and Low Trust
Tableau’s enterprise admin tools were spread across multiple interfaces (web UI, CLI, Windows utilities), creating friction and inefficiency for Server admins. This fragmentation slowed workflows, increased troubleshooting, and made managing server configuration cumbersome.

Compounding the challenge, partnerships between Engineering, PM, and Design were strained, creating unclear ownership, slower development, and lower team morale.

The How: Systemic Integration and Partnership Leadership

My role focused on two parallel efforts:
1. Systemic Integration

-
Led the design vision to consolidate fragmented tools into a single, cohesive web console.
-
Established the foundational architecture for managing server topology, user identity, and access settings.
-
Provided direction and clarity across multiple engineering teams, aligning design with operational goals.
2. Partnership Leadership
-
Rebuilt trust and collaboration between Engineering, PM, and Design.
-
Conducted clarifying design reviews, resolved ambiguous requirements, and maintained consistent communication throughout development.
-
Fostered a high-trust environment, critical for delivering a complex, multi-team V1 release.

The Solution: V1 Launch and Operational Excellence
After a year of design, development, and cross-functional collaboration, TSM V1 shipped successfully:

-
Established a single-source platform for Tableau Server configuration.
-
Reduced administrative burden and improved efficiency for Server admins.
-
Set the foundation for future server maintenance tooling.
-

This project demonstrates my ability to lead complex, multi-team initiatives, integrate fragmented systems into a cohesive user experience, and cultivate strong, productive partnerships.
